Using wrong preposition
Mistakes are often made by using the wrong preposition after certain words.
Accuse of, not for.
Don’t say: He accuse the man for breaking the windows.
Say: He accused the man of breaking the windows.
Afraid of, not from.
Don’t say: She is afraid from the cat.
Say: She is afraid of the cat.
Angry with, not angry of
Don’t say: Alex was angry of me.
Say: Alex was angry with me.
Note,
We get angry with a person, but we get angry at a thing.
For example: He was angry at the weather / not angry with the weather.
Arrive at, not to.
Don’t say: They arrived to the town in the evening.
Say: They arrived at the town in the
evening.
Note:
Arrive in is used with countries and large cities.
Example:
John arrived in Los Angeles last night.
