Usually, people get confused when using the present perfect continuous with the present continuous. They make mistakes when phrasing. So you need to know how and where to use the present perfect continuous. This happens when the past has continued and affected the present. For example, in the sentence, ‘I have been preparing for the test since 2016.’
Take a look at the following sentences, all of which happened in the past but have an impact on the present:
‘The boys have been dancing since morning.’
‘Lata has been staying with me for 10 years.’
‘I have been walking for 6 hours.’
Now compare the difference between the sentences above with the sentences we wrote below:
The boys are dancing.
‘Lata is staying with me.’
‘I am walking.’
In these sentences, action has been taken, but there is no mention of the duration of the action.
